My Bludfest journey began not with the crowds or the chaos, but in quiet reverence the evening before. I wandered down to Milton Keynes Bowl at dusk, just to get a sense of the space. To my astonishment, I heard Dom doing sound checks, his voice slipping through the wind like a secret. Security kindly allowed me to linger outside the gates, and though I couldn’t see inside, I could feel it. Song after song floated through the warm air as the sun dipped below the trees. There were only a few of us at first; eventually, it was just me, alone with the music. It was spellbinding… a private prelude to what would come.

When the day itself arrived, the predicted sweltering heat never came, thank the stars. Still, Bludfest was a whirlwind of activity, packed queues, electric energy, and a sensory overload of things to see, do, and experience. I couldn’t do it all, but what I did have felt enchanted.

Hours before his set even began, Dom stepped out onto the roof terrace of The Hawley, greeting the growing crowd with a rowdy moment of gratitude. No fanfare, just him…arms lifted, pint in hand, soaking in the love already building in the air. It felt like a blessing before the storm, a simple but powerful reminder of how deeply he cares. I caught it on video, and every time I watch it back, I feel that spark all over again.

I had a guest ticket, and it was absolutely worth every penny. That space gave me a bit of calm in the storm, and a chance encounter with two remarkable women: Sam Harrison, Dom’s mother, and Mary Pidcock, his grandmother. Sam was all warmth and kindness, we spoke briefly about the album, and you could feel the pride radiating off her. Mary, elegant and lovely, had little black heart tattoos on her hands, just like Dom. It was a moment of generational magick, and I won’t soon forget it.

Later on, I spoke with Charlie Sarsfield, the visionary behind many of Dom’s recent visuals. It was a fleeting but meaningful moment, connecting the dots between the imagery and the man who helped create it.

Though I didn’t catch Stage 2 acts, I was there for the charged performances by Denzel Curry and Chase Atlantic — both brought a fire and atmosphere that fit the festival’s heart perfectly.

And then… the main event.

The crowd was wild with anticipation, chanting his name — Yungblud, Yungblud — until the air was thick with kinetic energy. As Dom burst onto the stage with “Hello Heaven Hello”, the Bowl ignited. From that instant, he owned it, every inch of the stage, every heartbeat in the audience. His stage presence was magnetic: confidence, chaos, and care fused into one. His love for the fans poured out of him, and we gave it back tenfold.

The set was a masterclass in range — old anthems and fresh heartbreakers — and then came the moment: Billy Idol walked on to perform White Wedding with Dom. It was euphoric. History rewriting itself in real-time.

Too soon, it was over. But something stayed behind in me. A warmth, a spark, a clarity of purpose. I walked away filled to the brim with love, with devotion, with something ancient and new all at once.

I’ve never felt so alive.

I’ll be chasing this feeling forever — Bludfest, yearly and globally, for as long as it exists. Even at 90, I’ll be that glittering ghost at the front.

With seven more gigs planned and the second part of the album, a documentary, and the BRAT venue on the horizon, this is only the beginning. And somehow, it already feels like a legacy in motion.

And to quote Jane Austen, Dom has bewitched me body, mind and soul…
And I wouldn’t want it any other way.
